Flood Information


The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has CLOSED the ROCK RIVER in Winnebago County until further notice.The river is rising and is forecast to crest at 12.6 feet in Rockton and 12.5 feet at Latham Park on Wednesday, July 26th, 2017.  Flood state in those areas is 10 feet.  Moderate flooding is anticipated in Roscoe and Machesney Park. All public boat launches are closed throughout Winnebago County due to this restriction.

The Sheriff's Office continues to monitor levesl on the Kishawaukee River.  The Pecatonica River is forecast to rise into major fllod state at Freeport and Shirland.  Other rivers, creeks and streams throughout winnebago County have also been affected by the flooding; however, most of those areas do not threaten homes.
