In addition to the normal security coverage of the Courthouse, Justice Center and Public Safety Building, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office staff provides security for 24 regularly scheduled county board meetings and 10 victim impact meetings as well as on other occasions such as special board meetings, tax sales, public hearings and other meetings.

Sheriff’s deputies assist court bailiffs with additional security for high profile or sensitive trials and are involved in the arrests and transport of prisoners wanted on warrants or remanded to the Sheriff by the courts.

In addition, the Director of Security receives regular updates from the Office of Homeland Security and works in concert with the Director of ESDA on all matters of mutual concern. He also meets on a regular basis with the Chief Judge, Trial Court Administrator, Chief Bailiff and Corrections Supervisors to discuss security measures.
